Ultra running is a fabulous community. It is a community that may appear out of reach for many, but I strongly believe it is within reach for anyone who can run, even if today you run very little.

It is a community that uplifts and helps all participants realize the depth of their strength and courage.

As such I strongly believe that ultra running can be accessible for all. It will require commitment, consistency and courage, and I’ll be here to help and guide you to your goals.

My coaching philosophy

WHY WORK WITH ME?

2024 UTMB CCC 100K

1st woman,
2024 Sulphur Springs Trail Race 100k

Always an avid runner, my journey into ultra running began in 2017. Since then, I have competed in 25+ ultras ranging in length from 50K to 215 miles. Ultra running has provided me with a renewed appreciation for overall health and wellbeing, providing a structure for my ongoing fitness and nutrition journey, as well as providing opportunities for incredible adventures and a way to meet wonderful new friends.

More about Helen

Ultra running requires commitment mentally, physically and emotionally. Having a coach can help you navigate these challenges.

While there are thousands of training plans available to download, they are not customized to you or adjusted based on how your body and mind are responding. While coaching does require investment, this is helpful as it means you are putting money down to commit to yourself.I have personally benefited from coaching and look forward to being able to help others take on the challenge and wonder that is ultra running.

A coach helps build accountability into your training plan, they can keep your eye on your goals and help explain why each workout is designed to move you towards successfully hitting your goals. In the same way a coach can help you train smart. While in ultra running time on feet does matter, the quality of the workouts also matter and emphasizing quality over junk miles will benefit the athlete and often prevent the occurrence of overuse injuries.

Why train with a coach?

A coach can also help you spot and manage weaknesses, and we all have them. Whether it is our running gait, overly tight hips or poor nutrition management, a coach can assist you in improving all of those areas. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, Ultra Running does demand a significant time commitment from athletes, and the journey is not always going to be easy. A coach can help an athlete maintain their perspective, keeping goals central, but not losing sight of the bigger picture. Which is really helping the athlete stay positive and healthy and well.
